I won but he appealed and despite having no grounds for an appeal, his lawyer knew who to appeal to. I found out after that the case was "pre-decided", that a judge who believes father's get shafted in custody cases put the pressure on the other judge to give the father custody. It was decided before I entered the courtroom. My lawyer found out by channels but it can't be proved. We went to the Supreme Court. The foremost expert on child custody law in Sweden wrote an appeal on my behalf. My lawyer also wrote an excellant appeal. The Supreme Court came close, but decided not to hear the case. So here I sit utterly brokenhearted. The appellate judge also ordered my ex to pay for only 1/2 of 3 visitations per year. The visitations cost $20,000 in plane fares (my kids are too young to travel alone) and brief hotel stays as I have to fly to Sweden and then fly back but can't do it without a 1-2 day rest between flights. My ex earns more than me but that doesn't seem to matter. I have seen no financial settlement even though my ex did a lot of illegal things such as getting my name off our joint bank acct, he also reported all my credit cards as stolen and refused to pay any support when I had the kids in the US after I left him; we ended up on welfare. I got back on my feet, got re-education to become a nurse, did everything right and it seems for nothing now. All this has cost, I estimate, about $30,000 to fight. The appellate judge even acknowledge the father was "heavy handed" in his discipline. He even wrote that in his judgment, basically saying it didn't matter.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3206237750722486469.post-10879137653767605982009-01-21T08:23:00.000-08:002009-01-21T08:23:00.000-08:00The judge said he had to obey the court assessors,...The judge said he had to obey the court assessors, who lied to the judge, and we proved perjury, but that made no difference.

Like you and your family - we lost everything.

It was a Dutch friend who helped us also.Lady Portiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15926578434258745634noreply@blogger.com
